Project Based Learning

Project Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which students learn by actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects.  Students choose a topic or subject area of interest and work with teachers to learn develop hands-on solutions to a problem or challenge.

Raising & Releasing Salmon

Throughout the year, several students took responsibility to raise salmon from eggs.  The entire building took a trip to the Grand Rapids Fish Ladder to release the salmon into the Grand River.

Chloe wanted to learn more about the impact that humans have on the environment.  Her project focused on cleaning up the Rogue River in Rockford and ended with a class trip!
